• If using on desks: hinges are mortised into writing surface (lid) and desk interior (case)  with hinge-barrel up. 
• If using on drop leaf tables: hinges are mortise into underneath of table top and underside of table leaf. Hinge-barrel down.

These top-quality hinges are crafted from extruded brass with a fixed pin and counter sunk holes.  A specialized extrusion process is used, where brass is compressed under extreme pressure into specific shapes.  They can be left to age gracefully, polished for a lustrous shine, antiqued, or installed and finished alongside the furniture for a cohesive look.
